从《大幻影》到《死囚越狱》，法式越狱从外放的浪漫向内省的沉郁逐步收敛，俨然是同一题材调性的两端，单一密闭的空间，极度克制的镜头与铺得很满的旁白，俨然就是主角奔向自由心路历程的现场直播，主观视角的叙事却非常简单，但是叙事节奏的缓慢又很容易让观众分神，最后加上了时间压力的紧张感增加了悬念和节奏，并在最后一刻干净利落的戛然而止，结束在了最高潮的时候。
